A simple just for fun rubber powered all sheet balsa model
This model was designed in the 1970's by Dan Catenacci when he was around 12 years old. It has proven to be a great fun flier. It was conceived after "using up" a ready to fly rubber model, the Sleek Streak, that was available at that time. There are still a number of ready to fly rubber powered models available that use a similar propeller assembly. As a result, this great little fun flier is presented for your enjoyment. The plan fits on an 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper. The plan has been saved in the Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). If you do not have the Adobe PDF Reader software, it can be obtained at no cost from the Adobe website at http://www.adobe.com .
Power for the model is a single loop of 1/8" rubber 26" long. Lube the motor and wind with a mechanical winder. When fully wound, the motor will run for a fairly long time. The model will climb quite high under power and then glide down with the propeller free wheeling. The glide is fairly steep, so the model will not thermal and fly away. On calm days, you can expect flights of nearly two minutes. The model will fly in wind, but due to its motor run duration, on windy days the model will drift a fairly long distance.
