Flying Aces Club (FAC) No-Cal Rules Models
Models in this category are built to the rules established by the Flying Aces Club (FAC). This is a national organization devoted to Free Flight models flown in competition using rules aimed at making competition flying fun. The principal focus of the FAC is scale models. A unique category within the FAC is one intended for scale appearing models that also emphasize flight duration. This is the "No-Cal" category. These are profile models, hence the name No-Cal or No Calories. The models are built for light weight and long flight duration. The basic rules are the model cannot have a wing span greater than 16", and must be recognizable as the aircraft being modeled. If the full sized airplane being modeled had fixed landing gear, then the landing gear must be included with the model, other wise the model can be done representing the gear in the up position.
Each plan set has been saved in the Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). This will insure that the plane pages will print at the proper size regardless of your individual printer. Be sure to set the software to not scale the drawing to fit the page. This will insure that the individual pages will print at their intended size. If you do not have the Adobe PDF Reader software, it can be obtained at no cost from the Adobe web site at http://www.adobe.com .

Fantasy model of the Star Trek Enterprise NCC-1701-A |
|
This is a fantasy model of the Star Trek starship
Enterprise as it appeared in the move "The Voyage Home". Since there is no
real aircraft for this model it is not competition legal. It was developed
simply to have fun with a very popular subject. The FAC competition rules
allow a model's wing span to be 16". Since this model is not competition
legal, and due to its shape the overall width (wing span does not seem to
fit this application) is 12". It has an overall length of 17". It is a nice
flyer and can use a plastic prop to help achieve the necessary center of
gravity.
The plan package is printed on multiple legal size (8 1/2" x 14") sheets of paper. The graphics are also provided for printing on tissue. Download (1.1 mb). |
