This is a fantasy model of the Star Trek starship Enterprise as it appeared in the move "The Voyage Home". Since there is no real aircraft for this model it is not competition legal. It was developed simply to have fun with a very popular subject. The FAC competition rules allow a model's wing span to be 16". Since this model is not competition legal, and due to its shape the overall width (wing span does not seem to fit this application) is 12". It has an overall length of 17". It is a nice flyer and can use a plastic prop to help achieve the necessary center of gravity. The plan package is printed on multiple legal size (8 1/2" x 14") sheets of paper. The graphics are also provided in the package for printing on tissue.
Thanks to Ray Kierna we have a nice No-Cal version of the very unique Fairey Rotodyne. The Fairey Rotodyne was a 1950's British compound gyroplane designed and built by Fairey Aviation and intended for commercial and military applications. One prototype was built. Although the Rotodyne was promising in concept and successful in trials, the program was eventually cancelled.
Ray Kierna has developed a number of successful rubber powered helicopters. Along with his successful helicopter projects, he also developed a nice No-Cal model of the Rotodyne. His original 2005 hand drawn plan has been redrawn using CAD tools and is presented here. Along with Ray's plan, ink jet printed tissue layouts are also provided for Ray's Rotodyne model.
