Reproductions of the Keil Kraft EeZeBilt all balsa sheet models

The models in this section represent reproductions of the old Keil Kraft EeZeBilt series models.

The models shown here along with the plan packages are a best attempt to reproduce the original series in their original form. Each plan package includes a scan of the original kit plan along with some building notes. All of the plans are in the Adobe PDF format. Each package contains multiple pages that are printed on U.S. legal size paper (8.5" x 14"). A link is provided with each model description to download the associated plan package. WHEN PRINTING MAKE SURE THAT PRINT SCALING HAS BEEN TURNED OFF.

A description of the method I use to print the parts directly on balsa is provided here. Just click on the link.

NOTE - A very good alternative to printing the parts for these models directly on balsa it to use T-shirt iron-on transfer paper. This material comes in 8 1/2" x 11" sheet size and works very well for transferring the drawn parts to balsa. A summary of the process for doing this is covered here. The major advantage of using this process is any printer can be used. To make it a bit easier to use iron-on transfer paper to create the full color parts for these models an alternate parts drawing package is provided. This drawing package has been laid out for 8 1/2" x 11" sheet. A link to the iron-on transfer package is provided in each model section of this page.

I do hope that if you decide to build any of these models, you will receive as much enjoyment as I have from my trip down memory lane.

Keil Kraft EeZeBilt Models

KK Hurricane

This is the Hawker Hurricane. The color and markings have been enhanced from those used in the original kit. The markings are those provided on the kit box art. The model has a wing span of 17.5". I want to thank Matt Keennon for sending me the scans of the kit contents. The plan package is available here (1.05 mb). Iron-on transfer paper layout package (50 kb)

This is the Me-109. The color and markings have been enhanced from those used in the original kit. The markings are those provided on the kit box art. The model has a wing span of 16.5". I want to thank Fritz Hansen for sending me the scans of the kit contents.  The plan package is available here (1.53 mb). Iron-on transfer paper layout package (546 kb)
The Keil Kraft Spitfire continues the EeZeBilt series of WWII aircraft used in the European theater. This model has a wing span of 16 inches. The kit box art and information about the model suggest the Spitfire was an early member of the series. The kit markings were rather limited so the markings I used on my No-Cal Spitfire were used for this model (the No. 317 (Wilenski) Squadron). Thanks go again to Fritz Hansen for supplying the scans of his kit contents. The plan package is available here (1.154 mb). Iron-on transfer paper layout package (57 kb)
The Bell Airacobra is next in the Keil Kraft EeZeBilt reproduction line up. While I like to use the kit box art for the color and markings on this models, this particular kit used art work depicting a natural metal finish. I elected to use markings that would take better advantage of the printed balsa process. The Airacobra has a wing span of 15".  Thanks to Ken Ketner who loaned me his nearly build model to use for developing a reproduction drawing package The plan package is available here (1.15 mb).Iron-on transfer paper layout package (48 kb)
This is one of the non scale models in the EeZeBilt kit series. Thanks to Ron Bartley who sent me a scan of the plan from the Sedan kit. The drawings for this package are based on the kit plan. I do think they are pretty close to the originals except were a few modifications were made to facilitate building and stretch winding. The plan package is available here (998 kb). Iron-on transfer paper layout package (141 kb)
Here is another non scale model in the EeZeBilt kit series. The source information for this reproduction package came from Mike Stewart's excellent web site. Mike shares scans of the kit plan and the kit parts from his Sportster kit. If you would like to see how the original kit looked visit Mike's web site. I wanted to do a Sportster following the format of the other reproduction drawing packages I have developed. The results are presented here. The markings have been enhanced somewhat from the original kit markings and a few structural changes have been made to accommodate stretch winding and the use of 1/32" balsa for the structure. The plan package is available here (616 kb). Iron-on transfer paper layout package (36 kb)
Thanks to Dave Duaganne who supplied scans of his kit we have the Cessna Skylane from the EeZeBilt series. As has been the case with the others in the series a few "enhancements" have been applied to the reproduction model. The original had dark blue trim with the rest bare balsa. The bare balsa has been replaces with a complementary background color. The original kit did not include wheel pants. The Cessna Skylane just does not look right without them. As a result wheel pants have been included in the package. They can be used or left off. The plan package is available here (2.7 mb). Iron-on transfer paper layout package (35 kb)
Thanks to Andrew Darby who supplied scans of his kit we have the Swallow from the EeZeBilt series. As has been the case with the others in the series a few "enhancements" have been applied to the reproduction model. The original had dark blue and orange trim with the rest bare balsa. The bare balsa has been replaces with a complementary color. The original kit did not include a pilot figure. Since this is an open cockpit model a pilot figure was added along with a few parts to enhance the strength of the fuselage in the cockpit area. The plan package is available here (379 kb). Iron-on transfer paper layout package (37 kb)
Thanks to Hans Jacob Saxegard for providing scans of his kit.  As a result we have the Piper Comanche from the EeZeBilt series. As has been the case with the others in the series a few "enhancements" have been applied to the reproduction model. The original had red trim with the rest bare balsa to represent the white paint of the full scale airplane. The bare balsa has been replaced with deep yellow. I felt the bare balsa was a bit drab. The plan package is available here (533 kb). Iron-on transfer paper layout package (31 kb)
Thanks to Chris Blanch and Mike Stewart's excellent web site we have the Piper Super Cruiser from the EeZeBilt series. As has been the case with the others in the series a few "enhancements" have been applied to the reproduction model. The original had red trim with the rest bare balsa to represent the white paint of the full scale airplane. The bare balsa has been replaced with yellow. I felt the bare balsa was a bit drab. The plan package is available here (453 kb). Iron-on transfer paper layout package (26 kb).
Keil Kraft P-51 Box ArtKK P-51 Thanks to Andrew Darby for making scans of his kit content to be used in developing this reproduction package. The reproduction EeZeBilt P-51 has a few changes from the original kit. The markings have been changed from the dull all gray parts with black panel lines to those of the kit box art. The box art has a few errors relative to the actual P-51 Sky Bouncer that was a member of the 357th Fighter Squadron in the 361st Fighter Group. Those errors have been corrected with the markings used for the reproduction drawing package. The proof model in the photo as the Sky Bouncer name incorrectly done in black. It should be red. The drawing package has been corrected and includes a more faithful representation of the script name lettering. As has been the case with the other models in this series, the nose has been set up for easy removal for winding. The landing gear has also been modified to make fabrication easier. The plan package is available here (2.1 mb). The iron-on transfer paper layouts are here (326 kb).
KK AviaKeil Kraft Avia box art Thanks to Dave Livingston we have the Avia from the EeZeBilt series. This model has a 22 1/2" wing span. The original kit markings have been retained. Color has been added to the areas that were left as bare balsa on the original. The plan package is available here (1.5 mb). Letter size Iron-on transfer paper layout package (38.7 kb) and A4 size (38.7 kb).
KK SportsmanKeil Kraft Sportsman box art Also thanks to Dave Livingston we have the 18" span Sportsman from the EeZeBilt series. The original kit markings have been retained. Color has been added to the areas that were left as bare balsa on the original. The plan package is available here (1.3 mb). Letter size Iron-on transfer paper layout package (66.8 kb) and A4 size (66.9 kb).
Here is a magazine advertisement for the complete Keil Kraft EeZeBilt series. There were two groups. A simpler to build series for less experienced modelers. The models in that series featured flat wings.

The other segment of the series was devoted to scale models. The models in this group do have cambered wings and a bit more complex construction.

Both groups of models are good fliers when built light.

One model remains in order to complete the entire series. It is the Rapier from the novice group. If anyone has any leads on an old kit or can provide scans of the kit content please let me know.
